What is an electric rim lock?
A rim lock is fixed to the surface (the "rim") of a gate or door rather than inside it. An electric rim lock adds a coil that releases the latch when it receives a signal. Press a button indoors, on a remote or on your phone, and the gate clicks open; close it and it locks again by itself.

Rim lock or gate motor?
A rim lock unlocks the gate; you still push it open. If you want the gate to open and close by itself, you need a swing or sliding gate motor. Many homes use both: a motor on the main car gate and a CENTRIO on the pedestrian gate.
