Smart Door Lock Price in India (2026): What You Get at Every Budget

Smart door lock prices in India run from a few thousand rupees to well over fifty thousand. The number on the box tells you very little on its own. What matters is what you get for it: how many ways the lock opens, how strong the bolts are, how it is powered, and who installs and services it. This guide walks through each budget using our own range as a reference, with prices as they stand at the time of writing.

The short answer

  • Around ₹6,500 to ₹8,000: fingerprint and RFID card locks for wooden doors, with a key as backup. Good for apartments and internal doors.
  • Around ₹16,000 to ₹22,000: face recognition, a video doorbell with a screen inside, and a heavier 5-bolt deadbolt. Built for the main door of a home.
  • Hotels, PGs and homestays: RFID keycard locks priced per room, usually as a project.

Entry level: fingerprint and card (from ₹6,599)

At this level you are paying for convenience: no keys to carry, no spare key under the mat. Our OHM (₹6,599) opens with a fingerprint or an RFID card and has a physical passage-mode switch, handy when you want the door to stay unlocked during a family gathering. ZEAL (₹7,699) stores up to 100 fingerprints and 100 cards, runs on four AA batteries for about a year, and has a Type-C port for emergency power.

What you do not get at this price: face recognition, a camera or a heavy multi-bolt deadbolt. For most apartment main doors and bedroom or study doors, you will not miss them.

Mid to premium: face recognition and video (₹16,899 to ₹21,690)

This is where a smart lock starts to replace your doorbell as well as your key. ONYX (₹16,899), NEXUS (₹18,799) and SENTRY (₹21,690) all open by face (up to 20 people), fingerprint (up to 100) or card (up to 100), and all have a video doorbell with two-way talk on a 4.5-inch screen inside the door. They use a 5-bolt deadbolt with a motorised latch and fit wooden doors from 45 to 100 mm thick.

OTODOR SENTRY smart door lock with face recognition

SENTRY: face, fingerprint, card and key, with a rechargeable 4200 mAh battery.

The differences are in the details. SENTRY runs on a rechargeable 4200 mAh battery that lasts about six months between charges, so you never buy AA cells. ONYX uses a Micro-USB emergency port while NEXUS and SENTRY use Type-C.

What should be included in the price

  1. Installation. A smart lock needs the door cut precisely. A badly cut door is the most common reason a good lock fails. Our door locks include free professional installation in serviceable pincodes.
  2. A compatibility check. Door thickness, material and how the door opens all matter. We confirm your door is compatible before you pay.
  3. Warranty. Our door locks carry a 3-year warranty on the lock and 1 year on the battery.
  4. A backup way in. Every lock above has a mechanical key and an emergency power port.

Where the hidden costs are

Cheap online locks often look like a bargain until you add a carpenter, a second visit when the latch does not catch, and batteries every few months. Ask three questions before you buy: who fits it, who fixes it, and how long the batteries last.

Frequently asked questions

Is a ₹6,000 smart lock safe?

For an apartment main door or an internal door, a well-fitted fingerprint lock with a key backup is a real step up from a basic key lock. For an independent house main door, the heavier 5-bolt locks are worth the extra.

Do smart locks work during a power cut?

Yes. They run on their own batteries, not mains power. If the batteries ever run flat, you can power the lock from a power bank through the emergency port or use the key.

Can I fit a smart lock on a metal gate?

Door locks are made for wooden doors. For metal and boundary gates, see our electric rim locks.
