Smart Locks for Rented Homes, Homestays and PGs: Keyless Access for Guests
Share
If you rent out a flat, run a homestay or manage a PG, keys are a constant headache. Tenants lose them, guests forget to return them, and every change of occupant raises the same question: who else has a copy? A smart lock turns the key into something you can add and delete in seconds.

The problem with keys in shared and rented spaces
- You never know how many copies exist.
- Changing the lock after every tenant costs money and a visit.
- Late-night check-ins mean someone has to be there with the key.
- A lost key at a homestay means a locked-out guest and a bad review.
Option 1: RFID card locks for each room
For PGs, guest houses and homestays with several rooms, a keycard lock on each door works like a hotel. You hand a card to the guest at check-in and cancel it at check-out. Our CLOUD RFID keycard lock is built for exactly this, and is fitted room by room by our technicians.

CLOUD: keycard access for every room.
Option 2: fingerprint and card locks for a rented flat
For a single flat, a fingerprint and card lock on the main door is simpler. ZEAL stores up to 100 fingerprints and 100 cards, and you can delete a lost card in seconds. When a tenant moves out, delete their prints and cards. No locksmith, no new keys.

ZEAL: 100 fingerprints and 100 cards, about a year on AA batteries.
A simple routine for hosts and landlords
- Before check-in: program a card for the guest or tenant.
- At check-in: hand over the card, or enrol their fingerprint in a minute.
- At check-out: collect the card or delete it, and delete any fingerprints.
- Once a month: check the battery level and clear out old users.
What to think about before you buy
- Door type: our door locks are made for wooden doors. Tell us if yours is metal or glass.
- Number of rooms: for more than a few rooms, ask for a project quote.
- Power: the locks run on batteries, so a power cut does not lock anyone out. Our flat locks also have a key and an emergency power port as backup.
- Parking and entry: larger properties can add a boom barrier for the car park.
Frequently asked questions
Can I give a cleaner access only for a few hours?
The simplest way is a separate card that you hand over and collect, or a fingerprint you delete when the job ends.
What happens if a guest loses a card?
Delete that card from the lock and issue a new one. The lost card stops working straight away.
