How a drop-bolt glass door lock works
A drop-bolt lock is fixed to the top of the glass door. When it is locked, a steel bolt drops into a strike plate in the frame or floor and holds the door shut. When staff press a release button, use the remote or enter a code on a keypad, the bolt lifts and the customer can walk in.
- Locked by default: the door stays shut unless someone inside opens it.
- Opened from the counter: a button under the counter lets staff see the visitor first.
- Remote or keypad: owners and staff can enter without a key.
